Our Story

*record scratch* Yep, that's us.

I bet you're wondering how we got here. Well, what had happened was...

On the way to a Sullivan King concert at Bogart's, Brett's tiny bladder demanded a pit stop. So Caleb and Brett made a stop at an IGA in little ol' Millville, which just happened to be in Mack's front yard. Mack saw the cutest guy she had ever seen on Tinder and they matched that day. I know... Tinder. They hit it off right away, just in time for Mack to realize he lived almost 300 miles away.

After a month of countless hours video chatting, they finally met in person. They saw each other every week after this for about two months until they decided they ought to just move in together. So they did, and celebrated their three-month anniversary in their home together.

Shortly after moving in together, Caleb had already started planning on popping the big question... obviously that's why we're all here. He started scouring the internet to find local ring shops that offered custom rings but unfortunately there were none nearby. He started talking to his parents about the plans to ask Mack to marry him at this time and his mom mentioned a shop called HD Bean Jewelers in Carmi, IL where his grandparents had purchased their wedding set.

Caleb gave them a call and asked them if they would do a fully custom set with the jewels that Caleb had in mind... and they did. He quickly started planning a way to meet with the jewelry designer without giving it away to Mack. In a turn of events, he ended up taking a solo trip to Illinois and was able to meet with the owner of the jewelry store to discuss his ideas for the engagement ring.

He had mentioned to the designer that he wanted the ring to resemble a pinky promise because every time he and Mack say, "I love you", to each other, it is followed by a pinky promise. They both have a hatred for yellow gold jewelry and initially wanted silver, but decided on white gold at the urging of the jeweler for durability. Moving on to the stones, Caleb stated that he wanted the stones to be moss agate and opal. He wanted them to be the same size as Mack likes them both equally.

After taking down the ideas, the jeweler stated that he would get started on the ring as soon as possible. Within a week he had sent Caleb the first draft of the ring design. The jeweler had accomplished the pinky promise shape of the mounting perfectly and he moved forward with securing the stones. Just a few weeks later, he had sent a picture of the finished ring which was everything Caleb could have imagined. He already knew that Mack would love the breathtaking ring.

The ring stayed in Illinois up until Christmas when Caleb and Mack went back out there. Caleb wanted to put it in a different ring box than what it had came in, so he ordered a new one that was sent to their home in Hamilton, OH. Before leaving for Illinois, Caleb wrapped the empty ring box in a way that could be easily unwrapped so he could put the ring in it upon arrival to his mom's house.

Caleb had asked his dad, Jerry, and second mom, Beth, to come over to his mom, Regina, and second father, Brett's house so they could be present when he asked for Mack's hand in marriage. Mack thought it was strange to have everyone over at his mom's, but just assumed that was the dynamic of their family.

Now fast forward to Christmas morning and everyone was opening presents. Caleb and Mack had made each other time capsules with handwritten letters but there was one present left for Mack to open. It was finally time and Mack opened up a... mini screwdriver set? Well, that's what she thought it was anyways until she opened the box and a ring twisted up out of it. Then Caleb got down on one knee and said, "I love you so much. Will you marry me?" To which Mack lovingly responded, "FUCK YEAH!"

And now you're all caught up as we frantically plan this wedding out!
